Andrea Fontanari realizza il murale In the Swing of Freedom a Rovereto
L’1 dicembre 2025 è stato inaugurato a Rovereto In the Swing of Freedom, il nuovo murale di Andrea Fontanari dedicato al Centenario della Campana dei Caduti Maria Dolens. L’opera, collocata sulla parete nord dell’ex setificio Colle Masotti, raffigura un bambino sull’altalena che “sorvola” simbolicamente la Campana e le montagne che circondano la città: un’immagine sospesa tra memoria, speranza e valori universali di pace.
La grande facciata dell’edificio – recentemente restaurato e ben visibile da via Lungo Leno sinistro – diventa così un campo visivo aperto alla riflessione collettiva. Con questo intervento, l’artista porta la pittura fuori dagli spazi museali e dentro il paesaggio urbano, arricchendolo di una narrazione capace di ampliare gli orizzonti di chi lo attraversa.
Il progetto è frutto della collaborazione tra Provincia autonoma di Trento, Comune di Rovereto, Mart e Soprintendenza per i beni e le attività culturali, e si inserisce nel programma delle celebrazioni per i 100 anni del primo rintocco di Maria Dolens. L’intervento vuole richiamare alla pace attraverso i temi della libertà, del dialogo e della memoria condivisa, valorizzando al contempo l’ex setificio Colle Masotti, luogo significativo della storia cittadina.
Con In the Swing of Freedom, Andrea Fontanari contribuisce a un progetto di forte valore simbolico e culturale, offrendo alla città un’immagine capace di evocare leggerezza, slancio e una rinnovata fiducia nel futuro.
On 1 December 2025, In the Swing of Freedom, the new mural by Andrea Fontanari dedicated to the Centennial of the Peace Bell Maria Dolens, was inaugurated in Rovereto. The work, located on the north wall of the former Colle Masotti silk factory, depicts a child on a swing “flying over” the Bell and the mountains surrounding the city: an image suspended between memory, hope, and the universal values of peace.
The large façade of the building – recently restored and clearly visible from Via Lungo Leno Sinistro – thus becomes an open visual field for collective reflection. With this intervention, the artist brings painting out of the museum space and into the urban landscape, enriching it with a narrative capable of broadening the horizons of those who pass by.
The project is the result of a collaboration between the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Municipality of Rovereto, Mart, and the Provincial Superintendency for Cultural Heritage and Activities. It forms part of the celebrations marking 100 years since the first toll of Maria Dolens. The intervention aims to evoke peace through themes of freedom, dialogue, and shared memory, while also enhancing the former Colle Masotti silk factory, a site of great significance in the city’s history.
With In the Swing of Freedom, Andrea Fontanari contributes to a project of deep symbolic and cultural value, offering the city an image capable of evoking lightness, momentum, and a renewed sense of hope for the future.
