Tamara Janes
Save the poor image

Boccanera Gallery Trento is pleased to present Save the poor image, the first personal exhibition in a private gallery of artist Tamara Janes.

The Swiss artist, Alexandra Navratil’s student at the Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst HGK FHNW in Basel, uses the flood of digital images for her works; studies the current production of images – observes our photographic behavior, the methods, criteria and algorithms according to which images are arranged and used on the internet, and uses them consciously in his working process. The images Tamara Janes created through her searches in Google Images, Instagram and other digital image archives are witty comments or pulled from the tide of everyday digital images.

The AE_selection project was born from the collaboration of three galleries in Trentino-Alto Adige with ACADEMIAE, the Youth Art Biennale which was held in the summer of 2016 in Fortezza and where 33 young artists from the most renowned European art academies exhibited. In this context, the Boccanera galleries of Trento, Doris Ghetta of Ortisei and Alessandro Casciaro of Bolzano have made their own selection of artists who are presented simultaneously, as a sort of widespread and coordinated exhibition in the territory.
Galleria Doris Ghetta presents Charlotte Denamur (1988) and Sabine Leclercq (1989). Both study with Bernhard Rüdiger at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon.
The Alessandro Casciaro Gallery makes its exhibition spaces available to the young Colombian artist Santiago Reyes Villaveces (1986). Villaveces completed his postgraduate studies with the British artist Ian Kiaer at the Royal College of Art.
