Daniel González
Spiritual Paintings

Boccanera Gallery Milano has the privilege of presenting the exhibition of artist Daniel González, Spiritual Paintings.

In this exhibition, Daniel González Spiritual Paintings have undergone the performative action of the ritual incorporating spirituality into the dimension of the painting, through the lighting of candles. They are works that consume their own expectations on the object itself, a painting that turns into an altar of desires and promises. These promises are addressed to imaginary entities embroidered on canvas, as gods of the daily elected by each of us to protect our house and our affections, like an anthropomorphic being, a bottle, a slogan or a simple tangle of threads.

Inspired by the spirituality in Haiti, González creates paintings that combine rituals very distant from each other in history and geography, but which gather on the island creating a new community, such as the voodoo flags used in the rituals of the local population to the Western mysticism of Christian origin, the ritual of prayer together with the handcrafted method of beads and sequins embroidery on canvas.
