Yirui Fang was born in Shang Dong (CN) in 1997. He lives and works in Venice, IT.

Fang’s international education plays a central role in shaping his visual language. He trained at the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts before relocating to Venice, where he specialized in painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. This cross-cultural trajectory informs a practice that bridges Eastern and Western traditions, positioning painting as a space of resonance—where myth, gesture, and abstraction converge into a contemplative and emotionally charged visual experience.

His painting practice unfolds at the intersection of myth, abstraction, and poetic temporality, gravitating toward the symbolic threshold of dusk. For Fang, dusk is not merely a natural phenomenon but a liminal condition—an in-between state where fading calm converges with the emergence of instinct, ambiguity, and latent tension.
Drawing from the symbolic depth of Greek mythology, the rhythmic structures of Chinese calligraphy, and the layered materiality of contemporary abstraction, Fang constructs compositions in which order and disorder coexist as interdependent forces. His surfaces appear suspended between control and release, evoking a sense of temporal instability and quiet metamorphosis.
