Vlad Nancă nasce a Bucharest nel 1979 dove vive e lavora.
Artista e a volte curatore ritrae il contesto circostante e, influenzato dalla vita a Bucharest, documenta l'ambiente urbano attraverso la fotografia, l'istallazione e la performance. Nei suoi numerosi progetti utilizza diverse tecniche artistiche: simboli socio-culturali, talvolta giochi di parole per evocare nostalgia o per far riferimento al passato recente della Romania e sfidarne il clima culturale attuale. I lavori di Nancă sono stati inclusi in A few grams of Red, Yellow, Blue, al Centro per l'Arte Contemporanea Ujazdowski Castle a Varsavia a cura di Ewa Gorządek (2014); Image to be projected until it vanishes al Museion di Bolzano (2011); DEMOC(K)RACY 1 a La Criée, Centre d'Art Contemporain Rennes (2011); Der Prozess a cura di Marco Scotini, Prague Biennale 3 (2007).
Attualmente è presente in due mostra collettive: Appearance & Essence a cura di Rainald Schumacher e Nathalie Hoyos a Halele Timco, Timisoara Art Encounters e a Nature. Arte ed Ecologia, a cura di Margherita de Pilati, alla Galleria Civica/Mart di Trento.
Parallelamente alla sua pratica artistica Vlad Nancă è stato parte attiva nel processo di aggregazione della giovane scena artistica di Bucharest in Romania, è infatti fondatore del Bukres blog, ospita 'home galleries' (2020 home gallery, Apartamentul 17) e cura mostre (Wait… nel 2006, Back to the future nel 2007, alla Galeria Nouă di Bucharest) per incoraggiare e supportare gli artisti locali offrendo loro una piattaforma espositiva per il loro lavoro.
Vlad Nancă was born in Bucharest in 1979 where he lives and works.
Artist and sometimes curator he draws on the environment and influenced by life in Bucharest, he documents urbanity through his photographs, installations, and performances. His various projects employ different mediums, as well as diverse social and cultural symbols, often including word-play, to evoke nostalgia, reference Romania’s recent past, and challenge the current cultural climate. Nancă’s work has been included in A few grams of Red, Yellow, Blue, curated by Ewa Gorządek at the Center for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw (2014); Image to be projected until it vanishes at Museion in Bolzano (2011); DEMOC(K)RACY 1 at La Criée, Centre d'Art Contemporain Rennes (2011); Der Prozess curated by Marco Scotini, Prague Biennale 3 (2007).
Now he is present in two group shows: Appearance & Essence, curated by Rainald Schumacher and Nathalie Hoyos, at Halele Timco, part of Timisoara Art Encounters and Nature. Arte ed Ecologia, curated by Margherita de Pilati, in Galleria Civica/Mart in Trento.
In parallel with his art practice Vlad Nancă an active part in the coagulation of the young artist scene of Bucharest in Romania, infact he is the founder of Bukres blog, he hosts ‘home galleries’ (2020 home gallery, Apartamentul 17) and curates exhibitions (Wait… in 2006, Back to the future, in 2007, at Galeria Nouă, Bucharest) to encourage and support local artists by offering a platform to show their work.
